Ontlametse Phalatse Was Doing Fine Until She Met WIth Zuma – Cries Family Member

Ontlametse Phalatse passed away on Tuesday night at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, outside Pretoria. The 18-year-old was one of two South African girls living with a rare genetic disorder. Progeria causes rapid aging.

Her doctors predicted that she would only survive until her 14th birthday. Last month, President Jacob Zuma fulfilled her wish to meet him. The Phalatse family has released a statement, saying Ontlametse was surrounded by her mother, brother, family members and friends.

President Zuma met with Phalatse on Thursday at his home in Pretoria.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ontlametse Phalatse, who died suddenly last Tuesday, was held on Wednesday at Mmanotshe Moduane High School in Hebron at 14:00.

Speaking to reporters during the memorial service, Ontlametse Phalatse’s aunt, Maureen Moropa, said that her niece was doing just fine until she met Jacob Zuma at his home in Pretoria.

“It was Ontlametse’s wish to meet with President Zuma, she met with the President at his home in Pretoria and when they met, Ontlametse was doing fine and she was healthy, i am not sure what the president said or did to my niece during their private conversation but she was never the same after that. The man is bad luck” said the grieving aunt.
